Here’s a folksong by Steven Foster and one of Florida’s state songs.
The audio example is in the key of C on a C harp and has ideas for
embellishing the tab below. Such a beautiful old tune, hope you enjoy it!
Swanee River
5 -4 4 5 -4 4 7 -6 7
Way down upon the Swanee River,
6 5 4 -4
Far, far away,
5 -4 4 5 -4 4 7 -6 7
That’s where my heart is turning ever.
6 5 4 -4 -4 4
That’s where the old folks stay.
-7 7 -8 6 6 -6 6 7
Up and Down the whole creation,
7 -6 6 5 -4
Sadly I roam.
5 -4 4 5 -4 4 7-6 7
Still longing for the old plantation.
6 5 4 -4 -4 -4 4
And for the old folks at home.
