What's New

The new Activity page is one list of everything going on across Harptabs — new tabs, forum discussions, shared play-alongs and collections, tab requests, new members and badges. Filter it to just what you care about, or switch to the Following tab for the players you follow.

Hit Follow on any player profile to get a notification when they post a new tab. Your profile now shows follower and following counts, and the players you follow are one click away from the menu.

Links saved from the classic site — bookmarks, forum posts, links inside tabs themselves — now all land on a real page instead of an error. A few older pages we no longer have, like the file list and the link directory, send you to the closest thing we do have.

This page used to be reachable only from a link in the footer. The home page now shows the newest update on a card next to the Tab of the Day, so you can see what we have been working on without going looking for it.

Two buttons on every tab used to both read simply “Play” — one sounded the notes, the other just scrolled the page. They are now “Hear tab” and “Auto-scroll”, each speed slider is tied to the control it belongs to, and hovering any of them explains what it does. Starting one thing also stops the other, so you will never get a backing track and the harmonica synth fighting each other again.

The Top contributors panel on the home page now has a “View all” link, so the full list of players — ranked the same way — is one click from where you’re already browsing.

Our digests used to arrive all at once on a Sunday afternoon. They now go out on separate days, and we will never send you more than one round-up email in a day no matter how many you are subscribed to.

The sign-in box now takes your email address as well as your username — whichever you remember. We also stopped signing you out after 20 minutes; leave a tab open as long as you like.

Your account now keeps working on your current address until you confirm the new one, so a confirmation email that goes astray can’t lock you out. If sign-in does fail, the page now tells you why instead of just saying your password was wrong.

Ad spots used to hold their space even when nothing loaded, leaving a big empty gap above the first tabs on the home and search pages. They now take up no room at all until an ad actually appears.

We trimmed the work behind the home page and tab view — fewer repeated lookups, and the heavier extras like the harmonica visualizer and recorder now load only when you open them. Browsing and search feel quicker, especially on a phone.

We now only send recurring emails — new-tab digests, popular-tab roundups, and reminders — to members who ask for them. Want them? Turn them on any time in Settings → Email preferences.

Requested a reset more than once? The links in your two newest emails now both work, instead of each request cancelling the last. The classic-site reset page now uses this safer flow too.

You can request a reset link with either your username or the email on your account, and the human-verification box no longer vanishes after a failed attempt — no more hard-refreshing to get it back.

Badges, member ranks, the top-contributor gem, and the little icons on tab cards now pop up a small box on mouse-over explaining exactly what they are and how they’re earned.

Every tab now has a comments thread right on the page, so you can ask questions, share tips, or point out a tricky bend with other players. Sign in to join the conversation.

We tucked a few surprises into Harptabs — a riff here, a throwback there. Find one while signed in and the Egg Hunter badge lands on your profile. That’s all the hint you get.

Tabs posted by our most prolific contributors now show a small violet award beside the uploader’s name across listings, so you can spot the community’s heavy hitters at a glance.

Play along to any tab and record it right on the page. Save your takes (private to you) to hear your progress over time.

A new email digest rounds up fresh tabs in the genres and by the artists you’ve favorited. Set the cadence (or turn it off) in your email settings.

Posting a tab? Let the assistant suggest its difficulty, key, and position — or draft a starting tab from a description. And on search, just ask in plain English (“easy blues in 2nd position on a C harp”).

Prefer no ads? Harptabs Premium removes them site-wide, unlocks the practice tools, and helps support the site. See the Go ad-free page in your menu.

Bloggers and teachers can now drop a clean, ad-free tab into their own site with a simple iframe. See the embed snippet on the developers page.

Make any collection public and it shows up on the new Browse public collections page — a place to discover setlists other players have put together.

New “Learn” page in the nav: the core techniques (single notes, bending, tongue blocking) plus a handful of easy tabs to play first.

When you post a tab, the submit form now shows any existing tabs with a similar name as you type — so it’s easy to check yours isn’t already here.

Want a song tabbed? Post it on the new Requests board, upvote what others want, and — if you tab one — mark it fulfilled. Find it in the top nav.

Author-set difficulty not quite right? Now the community can weigh in: vote Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert on any tab and see the average.

Spotted a wrong note or a typo in someone’s tab? Use “Suggest a correction” to send the author a fix — they can accept it with one click, and it’s applied to the tab.

Contributors have a new stats dashboard: total views, favorites, and today’s activity, plus a sortable table of every tab you’ve posted.

Mark any tab “Learning” or “Learned,” then see it all on your new Practice page — with a day streak to keep you going.

A new reference page shows the blow and draw note for every hole on a diatonic harp — in any key. Handy when you’re working out a tab or picking which harp to grab.

New on every tab: an interactive harmonica that lights up which holes to blow and draw, step by step — and can play the notes for you. Great for learning a new song by sight.

Keep time while you practice: every tab now has a metronome in the viewer toolbar with an adjustable tempo. It accents the downbeat and remembers your BPM.

Tabs can now note the harmonica position they’re played in — 1st (straight), 2nd (cross), and so on — and you can filter search by it. Add it to your own tabs when you post or edit.

Group tabs into named collections: songs to learn, a gig setlist, whatever you like. Hit “Add to collection” on any tab, and find them all under Collections in your menu.

The home page now features a fresh Tab of the Day, so there’s always something new to try the moment you land. Want it in your reader? Subscribe to the feed.

Spotted a wrong, duplicate, or inappropriate tab? A new Report button on every tab sends it straight to our moderators for a look.

Bump the tab up or down with the new text-size buttons in the viewer — comfortable to read on a phone stand or across the room. Your choice is remembered.

A new bell in the header keeps you posted when someone favorites your tab, replies to you, or a new tab lands from an artist you follow. Choose in-app, email, or browser push per event in Settings.

Every tab card now shows a heart you can tap to favorite — it turns red the moment you do, right where you’re browsing. Your favorites stay a click away across the home page, search, artists, charts, and profiles.

Tabs with a linked recording now show an audio marker on the tab page and in listings, so you can hear the song as you follow along.

Turn on hands-free scrolling and set your own pace, so the tab keeps moving while you play.

Dates and times across the site now show in your own time zone instead of ours.
